Event Update

The 2024 edition of C&R will be hosted at the IFEMA MADRID in Madrid, Spain. The venue will not have the newest Covid-19 security measures in place. This is because of the country's government lifting the pandemic-related limitations.

Industry Relevance

C&R (Climatización y Refrigeración) is an international trade fair dedicated to the needs of the HVAC and refrigeration industry. Based in Madrid, Spain, the event is held once every two years at IFEMA Madrid. The product portfolio is divided into ten sectors – air conditioning; ventilation; insulation; heating and domestic hot water; pumping systems; pipes and valves; components; tools, supplies, and applications for installations; industrial and commercial refrigeration; regulation, control and centralised technical management.

On another note, C&R continues to be relevant due to its commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency. The HVAC industry is known for its large energy consumption, and the chief mission of C&R is to address these issues and create a greener future. It’s why the trade fair is often called the benchmark for HVAC and Refrigeration in Spain. C&R places a lot of value on technological evolution, optimisation and the control of installations, reducing energy use and caring for the environment. As a result, each edition accelerates the market and garners interest from buyers with the right budget. Exhibitors are able to build a reputation and fully penetrate the Spanish market.

Who Are You Going to Meet?

The majority of exhibitors are companies based in Spain, who have a booth in order to meet with their biggest clients and approach potential new buyers. Visitors come to check out the newest by DAIKIN, Gas Servei, PHNIX, Haier, EXKAL, FROST-TROL, Green Eco, Syrius Solar Industry, Tewis Smart Systems, Zenotti Appliance and Infraspeack. International exhibitors come from the surrounding region such as Portugal, Italy, and France.

Additional Value of Attending

If you’re developing truly exceptional and cutting-edge products, then you should consider having a go at being featured at the C&R Innovation Gallery. This is a special feature set up so that new pieces of equipment and solutions have the time to shine and be highlighted during the edition in their own special area. In 2021, only 11 proposals were approved to be featured. Being approved is a huge stamp of approval and brings in more attention from VIP buyers and investors.

The Gallery functions as a springboard for innovation, where ideas meet technical application and lead to better results overall. There’s a jury in place that looks for not just quality and a fresh new approach to function, but energy efficiency, respect for the environment and the use of renewable energies. In the past, we’ve seen improvements in materials, tools for controlling the air quality of air-conditioning installations, and innovative use of natural refrigerants that raise efficiency levels.

In addition to all the great business networking taking place, the C&R FORUM and Workshops provide a dynamic, in-depth information programme where the biggest names in the industry gather to speak and share their knowledge. The Technical Talks, in particular, have a special role in the discussion of current topics such as Decarbonising Buildings, Changes to the RITE (Regulation of Thermal Installations in Buildings), and Indoor Air Quality Beyond the Pandemic.

There was also a lot of programming dedicated to sustainability and greener futures. Visitors had the chance to learn where energy optimisation and sustainability can be applied best in industrial and commercial refrigeration facilities and disruptive technologies. We should also highlight the highly useful ACT and Refrigeration Workshops. Here, seasoned professionals present the best practices when it comes to installations.

The opening day of C&R is when the winners of the AIR CONDITIONING & REFRIGERATION Award are traditionally announced. The award honours the person who has contributed the most to the development, progress, and improvement of the air conditioning and the refrigeration sector. Previous winners include Pedro Pulido, Sales Manager of SOLER & PALAU, a leading member of AFEC’s board.
