You can’t lose with a business trip to EMO Milano. The international trade show opens the gates to the entire world of metalworking and it’s such an effective sourcing platform. Exhibitors easily earn back all travel expenses and fees within the first hours of their attendance. That’s the power of EMO Milano to connect you to the right kind of buyer. You return home with an influx of sales leads. Despite the pandemic, organisers report solid attendance numbers. The industry is ready to recover:

  • 700+ international exhibitors;
  • 60,000+ international trade visitors from 91 countries;
  • 30% of visitors are foreign nationals;
  • 60% of exhibitors are foreign nationals;
  • 100,000 sq. metres of exhibition area

Industry Relevance

EMO Milano is only one half of the EMO brand. The international trade show switches editions between Milan, Italy and Hannover, Germany. Pairing Italy and Germany makes perfect sense as both countries are popular with buyers and tap into completely different buyers. In Milan, EMO is located at Fiera Milano.

The trade show has been organised every two years since 1975 and has become known as the biggest and most important event for the metalworking industry in the entire world. You can see this is the impressive product portfolio, which has all the major categories – components for flexible automation, CAD/CAM, sheet metal, wire and tube working machines, metal forming machines, quality management systems, control systems, coolants and lubricants, and manufacturing software. We also have to mention the support program which hosts events like a conference on robotics and a special Industry 4.0 area.

Who Are You Going to Meet?

EMO is a host to respected manufacturers and suppliers within the metalworking industry. Some of the names trade visitors can hope to encounter are Röhm, Dormer Pramet Germany, ongen Werkzeugtech-nik, Rollomatic SA, Haas Schleifmaschinen and Hiwin. EMO introduces supply to demand and covers a lot of ground. The portfolio of exhibitors guarantees the quality of visitors.

At EMO Milano, you’ll meet qualified foreign operators who are attendees at the business missions organised by UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE in cooperation with MAECI and ICE-Italian Trade Agency. Autonomous delegations from countries like Turkey are also present. All this then materialises into quite productive business networking. The volume of meetings is overwhelming. Not to mention the value of the business being made during this initiative.

Europe takes the lead when it comes to most represented countries. You’ll connect with buyers from Germany, France, Sweden, Italy, Spain, Austria, Slovenia, Denmark and the UK. Before the pandemic, organisers reported that more than 23% of all visitors during last edition came from Japan, China, South Korea, India, Malaysia and Taiwan. This clearly demonstrates how important EMO Milano has become for Asia as a large market. The value in orders placed during the last edition before the pandemic was estimated at over 8 billion euros.

The Additional Value of Attending

EMO Milano impresses visitors and exhibitors alike with an in-depth support programme aiming to share experience, knowledge and expertise. Top exhibitors have been invited to talk and discuss on a variety of themes. Perhaps you’re invested in how Industry 4.0 is rewriting how things are done in your sector. Then you should definitely head to EMO Digital, the exhibition area focused on digital technologies. You have other special exhibition areas. New companies that are creating the next generation of products and projects related to production systems and metalworking can be found at EMO Start-Up. Additive manufacturing remains important as ever and commands its own space at EMO Additive Manufacturing.

Companies can further pitch their products and technologies at the Speakers Corner, which hosts about 80 speeches and in-depth analyses and discussions by exhibitors and organisers. Most of the content generated during the trade show could also be accessed online from users, who could not be at Emo Milano in person. Even though the pandemic affects in-person attendance, organisers still make sure you reach everyone important to you no matter where they might be!

Finally, we have to highlight the excellent initiatives for students. There’s a need for more skilled, qualified workers and Emo Milano invites students from Technical High Schools, Universities and ITS-Higher Technical Schools to come and see what the metalworking industry is all about. These students have the opportunity to sign up for guided tours led by tutors of UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE and gain a deeper understanding of what opportunities are available to them.

The Outlook for 2027

EMO Milan will return in 2027 with a stellar forecast. Organisers expect for travel conditions to be much more favourable, which in turn generate high attendance rates. Although we can’t say for certain what’s going to happen with the pandemic, we do know that the pause between editions is an advantage. The industry will have time to pick up steam. Organisers have drafted early ideas for the next edition. Be sure to check in closer to the date to learn more!
