Overall, no other trade show manages to deliver such an audience. An exhibition stand guarantees qualified sales leads and visibility on a world level. Before the pandemic, EURONAVAL generated attendance in the thousands:

  • Around 470 international exhibitors from 33 countries;
  • 23,000+ international trade visitors;
  • 15,000 square metres of exhibition area;
  • 20 chiefs of staff for the navy;
  • 5 ministers and deputy ministers of defence.

Organisers expect for the first post-pandemic show to do well and generate numbers close to its previous editions.

Industry Relevance

EURONAVAL has been a beacon of progress and innovation since 1968 and cemented Paris as a go-to destination for naval personnel. Over the course of half a century, the trade show has seen all the new developments in naval and defence technology as well as followed every military conflict. Editions roll out every two years at Paris Le Bourget and showcase the latest and best in navigation technology, sensor technology, vessels and ship’s equipment, security installations alongside port equipment. Visitors receive a comprehensive overview of the entire value chain in one place.

Another highlight is the conference that takes place one day before the exhibition itself and last edition topics that were discussed included Maritime Ambitions, Technological Innovations as well as a speech on a potential return to maritime warfare. In fact, EURONAVAL will play a vital role as the war in Ukraine continues to develop. One of the web conferences is going to cover all strategic and tactics maritime lessons. Over the course of two hours, visitors will be able to hear perspectives from speakers representing ECFR, GMFUS, FESEI, FMES and the Korean Institute for Maritime Studies.

Who Are You Going to Meet?

Euronaval orients itself towards the business side of naval defence. It’s the chief place for closing deals and an important barometer for market trends. The military presence at EURONAVAL is a given. Last edition saw 129 official delegations that are somewhat equally split between Europe; Africa and the Middle East, and Asia with fewer numbers from America and Oceania. In terms of exhibitors, here are some of the names you can hope to see return – EID, AIP, Odense Maritime Technology, STEEN, Geomatys, General Atomics, MÖNCH Publishing, Ameris France, SKF Marine, Paratech and Ades Technologies.

In terms of roles and titles, the audience is made of defense ministers, ambassadors, secretaries of state for defence, chiefs of staff for the armed forces, chiefs of staff for the navy, senior officers of the navy, managers of national purchasing agencies, customs representatives, maritime police representatives, coast-guard delegations, defense attachés, and representatives of multilateral & international authorities.

EURONAVAL is a truly global event as it has spread its reach to every continent. The most visitors actually come from Africa (29%), then followed by Europe (25%). Next is the Asia-Pacific region (18%) and last are the Middle East and North America tied at 12%.

Additional Value of Attending

Startups have a dedicated space at EURONAVAL. The SEAnnovation area dedicated to startups made its official debut during the digital 2020 edition and was met with high remarks, which is why its making a return. The area helps trade visitors with discovery and researching innovative products and technologies. Up to 30 startups from France and abroad are grouped in a dedicated area for greater visibility. You can expect round tables, keynotes and pitches over 5 days. If you are breaking ground in defence or dual civil-defence technologies, then this is a good vehicle to get noticed by the correct buyers, investors and contractors in the global shipbuilding industry.

In addition to the many opportunities to meet with potential buyers, there’s a lot to experience in terms of supporting events. There are two conferences every edition. Alongside the one that’s discussing the war in Ukraine, the second is dedicated to the world naval rearmament. Of course the big-ticket event is the major Conference, which will be held at the Novotel Paris Centre Tour Eiffel. The face-to-face conference gathers speakers from politics, the military and industry for a complete overview and perspective. There are two round tables scheduled for 2022 - Naval Forces in High Intensity Combat and Naval warfare and technological advantages.

The Outlook for 2022

The pandemic made it impossible to hold a show in person, which is why the 2020 ran as an all-digital event called EURONAVAL-Online. It served its purpose to continue conversations and keep parties in contact with each other, but certainly didn’t live up to previous editions. After four years, EURONAVAL 2022 will gather all major players together under one roof once again and the excitement is palpable. Early estimates predict that the upcoming edition will be a return to form and a significant move towards properly restarting the industry as a whole.
