Even with the pandemic going on, the Monaco Yacht Show did very well:

  • 440+ international exhibitors showcased at the event;
  • 19,000+ international visitors made the trip;
  • 150 VIP guests;
  • 101 extraordinary one-off superyachts.
  • estimated total worth of €3.6 billion
  • 37 new launches

Industry Relevance

Port Hercules welcomed the luxury yacht community for the very first time back in 1991. The boat show is known as Europe's biggest in-water display of large yachts. The annual show has been a success from the get-go and to this day continues to grow in size. Over the years, the format has changed a lot and now even has a luxury car deck in a separate showroom.

The Monaco Yacht Show attracts some of the richest people in the world. It’s worth noting that originally it was oriented towards brokers, but now it opens its doors to the public with the budget to spend. What can a visitor hope to see there? Apart from superyachts and luxury cars, there are motorboats, sailing yachts, sailboats, and accessories.

The pandemic has given organisers the much needed space to reimagine the boat show and make some changes. In 2021, visitors saw for the first time the Yacht Design & Innovation Hub, whose purpose is to deepen visitors’ knowledge about design and innovative solutions in yachting. You get to sit through live presentations of designers. The first edition featured Espen Øino, Luiz De Basto Designs, Sam Sorgiovanni, Sinot Yacht Architecture and Design and Winch Design. It’s an opportunity for buyers to learn more about what’s going into the building of a superyacht and get to speak with designers at the top of their game face to face.

Another new addition to the show is the Adventure Area that brings in new perspectives as to what a person can do on a superyacht. For those clients who enjoy excitement and the adrenaline rush, this area is home to tenders, off-road vehicles, nautical gadgets and thrilling activities to enjoy on board a yacht.

Who Are You Going to Meet?

The Monaco Yacht Show has always been intended for the upper echelons of society. This is not a surprise when you see the exclusivity of the yachts on display. The show has the support of His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco right from its inception. As an exhibitor, you’re in the perfect place to meet buyers of the highest order and ensure you’re well known in the upper social circles. It’s the place to establish your name and gain necessary visibility.

Some of the yachts that have been shown and sold at the show include Illusion 1, Project Sunrise, ROCK.IT, Infinity, Thumper and Anyuta. Every single one has entered the possession of the richest buyers in the world. Given that the Monaco Yacht Show holds some 150 separate events that range from parties to lavish dinners, it is safe to say you will rub shoulders with celebrities and socialites.

Additional Value of Attendance

The big, important side event is the Monaco Yacht Summit targeted at potential yacht buyers. If a current owner or a potential buyer wants to charter, buy or build a yacht, the Summit is where they go in order to meet with the relevant advisors. The Summit is led by a panel of designers, brokers, builders and financial advisers, who answer any and all questions. The topics on hand are varied and include expert insights, choosing a superyacht and broker, optimising the charter of a yacht, the practical steps of commissioning and building a new yacht project and a case study from design to delivery.

Organisers want to give VIP visitors the best possible experience at the Monaco Yacht Show via the Sapphire Experience – a bespoke visit programme with a concierge service. Visitors, who opt in, are treated like royalty with invitations to gala evenings and private cocktail parties held on a few of the yachts. There’s a private visiting schedule and other perks such as courtesy cars that make their visit all the more exciting.

Similarly, captains and crew members also receive special treatment during MYS. The C&C Lounge (Captains & Crew Lounge) is their designated space to relax, play games, take advantage of wellness services and enjoy entertainment. It’s where they can take a breather, meet their peers and swap stories. There’s great food and a lot of ways to enjoy your time during the boat show.
