Event Update

WINTER OLYMPIA ART AND ANTIQUES FAIR 2023 will be hosted at Olympia London from October 30th to November 5th, 2023. Because the UK has lifted its pandemic-related limitations, including the travel restrictions, the site will not incorporate Covid-19 safety measures.

A Brief Overview of the Winter Art & Antiques Fair

The UK has a rich tradition of art and antiques fairs, but there’s one that every serious collector and dealer has their eye on – the Winter Art & Antiques Fair. It’s the largest and richest of its kind in the country and showcases valuable pieces you won’t see anywhere else. As a result, the international fair has become a magnet for senior collectors, who expect nothing but the very best. Exhibitors are rewarded for exhibiting with high-value contacts and increased visibility.

As thousands attend the Winter Art & Antiques Fair, it’s best to book hotel rooms early to benefit from early booking deals. It’s hard to find the best prices for accommodation in London, but we’re here to plan your stay and book the most affordable hotel for your needs. GETA ltd has worked in London for over a decade and knows all the great hotels, hostels and apartments to rent. Whether you prefer upscale accommodation or a low-budget option, we deliver! We’re experienced with larger groups as well. Stay a short distance away from Olympia London and enjoy connections to public transport. GETA ltd also provides airport transfers and rent-a-cars.

Why Your Visit Is Worth It

It makes perfect sense for London to serve as a centre for dealers and collectors. The antique fair brings in reputable dealers and attracts a large crowd. If you’re trying to build a reputation and close major deals, this is where you need to be. The costs are a smart investment. There’s really no other event quite like the Winter Art & Antiques Fair and you see it in the size and scope of the event:

  • 70 of the finest specialist dealers in the UK
  • 20,000+ exquisite pieces showcased at one time

Industry Relevance

The Winter Art & Antiques Fair has been the talk of London for the past 30 years and occupies a central role in the British art and antiques market. The antiques fair arrives every year at the start of November and runs alongside the Spirit of Christmas Fair. Editions are held at the gallery of the National Hall at Olympia London.

Visitors are able to discover rare finds of exceptional quality – mirrors, paintings, metalware & lighting, furniture, Asian art, 20th Century & Contemporary Works of Art, ceramics & glass, Art Deco & Art Nouveau, clocks, watches & barometers, decorative items & objects, silver, sculpture & bronzes, jewellery and accessories, objects of virtu & miniatures.

In order to be exhibited, all pieces undergo a vetting process performed by a specialist committee. The end goal is to determine the authenticity of everything on sale. It’s a stamp of approval that makes it safe for buyers to purchase without fears of being scammed. As a result, all exhibitors at the Winter Art & Antiques Fair develop a strong reputation for being honest among collectors.

Editions run for six days in total, but special buyers and collectors are able to sign up for a private preview one day before the official opening. This way the biggest purchases can be made without large crowds around.

It’s important to make a note that there are great finds for all budgets. It’s just as easy to find the ideal small purchase at £100 as it is to spend £1 million on famous pieces. In the past, the fair has showcased and sold incredible es from famous names such as Lalique, Matisse, Meissen, Cartier and Boucheron. That’s on top of antique furniture dating back five centuries.

Who Are You Going to Meet?

Since there’s such a big gap between price points of antiques and art being sold, you have a wide range of visitors as well. You’ll encounter collectors and interior designers as well as general buyers, who want to do a little bit of Christmas shopping or are invested in elevating their home in some way. The majority of visitors are UK nationals, though collectors with large budgets travel from all over the world.

There’s also a great variety in the companies that exhibit – Laura Bordignon Antiques, Hickmet Fine Arts, Granta Fine Art, Garret & Hurst Sculpture, Brian Watson Antique Glass, Moonstruck Experience and Morgan Strickland Decorative Arts.
