The TCF Centre, formerly known as Cobo Hall and Cobo Centre is the USA’s 17th largest convention centre. The venue was built by the City of Detroit and opened in 1960. The original name of the building of Cobo Hall was given in honour of the former Mayor. The TCF Centre hosts events throughout the whole year including corporate ones. For instance, the Free Press Marathon Health and Fitness Expo is hosted at this location. Similarly, the Automation Alley Integr8 and Forge Fair are held at this site.
The TCF Centre opened doors in 1960 following its completion. It was constructed by the City of Detroit and named in honour of Alber E.Cobo, a former Mayor. The venue was leased in 2009 from the City by the DRCFA for 33 years. In 2010, the DRFCA awarded the agreement to ASM Global who rebranded the venue as Cobo Centre. The venue was once again awarded to another company in 2019 with the awarded being TCF Bank. Due to its popularity as conference centre the TCF Centre receives over 1.5 million visitors every year. The event site is a 20-minute car drive from Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport. It is also a 5 minutes’ drive from Rosa Parks Transit Centre.
