About The Venue
The Thumamah Airport is one of Saudi Arabia’s main airports. It is situated about 60 kilometres north of central Riyadh. It is a venue comprised of 4000 m long runway, 25 by 25 m helipad, three aprons of various sizes and several hangars. The venue is close to a mansion and diwan which once belonged to King Khaled. They date from the time when the location was an official weekend retreat by the monarch. Because of its location and available space, the airport is popular as a location for important aviation events. Such include the Saudi International Airshow.
Thumamah Airport consists of several sections. Such include a runway which is 4000 metres long and 45 metres wide with state-of-the-art edge lighting. There is also a helipad which has 25 by 25 metre dimensions and three aprons. The aprons have a square footage of 52000 m2, 5500 m2 and 2500 m2. Across the road leading to the venue is a mansion and diwan which were formerly used by King Khaled. The venue has a convenient location. The site is about a 40-minute car ride from King Khaled International Airport. Similarly, the event site can be reached from Riyadh Railway Station in 1 hour and 10 minutes.
