The Vancouver Convention Centre is one of Vancouver’s prime event venues. The VCC consists of two unique buildings with a total square space of 466,500 square feet (43,340 square meters). Because of its impressive size, the conference centre can accommodate around 16000 delegates. The event site has been the hosting site of more than 500 events per year. Some noteworthy events include the Vancouver International Trade Fair. The venue has also hosted the Business and Investor Summit and the BlueTech Forum. The site has furthermore been the show ground of the BUILDEX Vancouver and Veg Expo.
The Vancouver Convention Centre originally consisted only of the East Building. However, in 2009 the West Building was added. The VCC is the location of Canada’s largest waterfront ballroom. It is the first repeat winner of the (AIPC) Apex award for World’s Best Convention Centre. Such an honour is given because of the venue's extensive experience and many amenities. These include flexible spaces and secure parking. It is also due to such amenities that the centre acted as the 2010 Winter Olympics’ main press centre and International Broadcast Centre.
