About The Venue
The Walter E. Washington Convention Centre is one of Washington, DC’s leading venues. It is a purpose-built events centre with a total meeting space of 210 000 m2 and 77 meeting rooms. It opened in 2003 and was renamed in honour of the district’s first Home Rule Mayor. Because of the large available space, the convention centre hosts many important events. Notable corporate examples include the SATELLITE Conference & Exhibition and ASHA Convention. Additionally, the venue is the hosting of the Washington DC Travel & Adventure Show.
 
The venue was built on the site of the city’s first convention centre – North Liberty Market. It opened in 2003 and received a later expansion in 2006. The venue has a total meeting space of 210,000 m2 and a capacity of around 23000. The venue received it current name in 2007 when the city government renamed the facility. The venue has 77 meeting areas with 10 of them being ballrooms which can accommodate many booths. The venue is close to 3 international airports.
