The industrial cleaning and maintenance industry in Berlin enjoys access to some truly cutting-edge technology at CMS Berlin. The trade show is a pivotal event in the sector and continues to grow in importance since its debut in 1984. The 2023 edition welcomed around 21,000 visitors and featured 421 exhibitors from 25 countries. That year’s CMS Berlin highlighted the increasing complexity of cleaning work, particularly in the wake of the pandemic, which clarified the need for comprehensive hygiene solutions. The event featured a broad range of products and services, which included waste disposal, security, landscaping, winter services, property management, commercial accounting, cleaning machinery, laundry technology, and outdoor cleaning.
One of the standout innovations presented at CMS Berlin was Soobr – Smart Cleaning, an AI-driven planning tool from Schweizer Soobr AG. Winner of the CMS Purus Innovation Award (PIA) in the Digital Tools and Systems category, Soobr revolutionizes traditional cleaning schedules. The software creates a digital room organizer listing all contractually specified jobs and their intervals. AI then schedules tasks dynamically, accommodating sick leaves and balancing peak work periods with one-off tasks. Cleaning staff receive their schedules via an app, which also allows them to report events. This system adapts to fluctuating office occupancy, ensuring cleaning occurs only where needed, thereby enhancing efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Another notable innovation was the Taqt One system by Taqt SAS, a digital checklist for washrooms and meeting rooms. This battery-operated device, finalist at PIA 2023, allows cleaning employees to log in and out using personalized chips or ID cards, with data transmitted to object management. The system also features a customer feedback interface, enabling users to rate room service with smileys and report issues such as missing paper or soap. This real-time feedback mechanism replaces traditional handwritten notes, streamlining communication and improving service quality.
