The Central Promenade is one of Blackpool’s three piers. It was constructed in 1868 following the success of the North Pier. Since its construction, the location has been a popular destination for entertainment and social events. For instance, among the modern events which take place at the Central Promenade is the Blackpool Airshow.
The Central Pier is 339 meters in length and has been altered over the years of service. For instance, in 1990 a 32,7-meter-high Big wheel was erected as part of the entertainment. This required the strengthening of the substructure of the pier. The pier has also seen the removal and adding of various means of entertainment, such as the addition and removal of a low-tide jetty. Presently, the pier is one of the Blackpool’s main locations for the hosting of events, including business expos, exhibitions, and conferences. The venue can be reached from Liverpool Airport and Liverpool Central Station.
