The Makuhari Messe is one of Japan’s largest venues outside of Tokyo. It is a 168,578 m2 event complex consisting of 34 rooms. The Makuhari Messe is in the Mihama-ku ward of Chiba city. The name of the venue comes from the area’s name and the German word for “trade fair”. The convention centre has been the hosting site of many events such as IFEX, Foodex, and Interphex Japan. Additionally, the venue hosts the Tokyo Auto Salon, Tokyo Motor Show, Tokyo Game Show, Jump Festa and the Wonder Festival.
The Makuhari Messe opened in 1989 and was expanded in 1997. It can accommodate up to 7860 people within its 34 meeting areas. 11 of these areas are large exhibition halls with a total space of 72 000 m2. Another meeting location is the International Conference Centre which includes 22 meeting rooms. There is also the Makuhari Event which is a multi-purpose hall with an included arena. All areas of the venue are flexible and have modern amenities.
