The Technische Universität Chemnitz is one of Saxony's leading universities. It is a state-sponsored institution which was founded between 1836 and 1986. It is in Chemnitz, Germany and has around 10 000 students on an annual basis. The university also serves as an event venue, such as for the hosting of the LinuxTag.

The Technische Universität emerged from the merging of several schools. The mergers took place between the years 1836 and 1986. The campus consists of various areas distributed on numerous streets of the city. One of the areas located on Reichenhainer Strasse contains the central lecture hall building. This building has 4 lecture halls and 14 seminar rooms with a total of 2576 seats and a floor area of about 8856 m2. This area is primarily used for the hosting of events related to computer technology. The main campus area of the university is found on Strasse der Nationen 62.
