An exhibition stand here opens you up to new markets and leads to first-class sales leads. The quality of trade visitors has no equivalent anywhere else in the world, which more than makes up for exhibition costs. It’s a smart investment and a quick return on investment. Let’s check out some of the key numbers from the last edition:

  • 1000+ international exhibitors from 41 countries showcased at the event;
  • 46,000+ international trade visitors from 120+ countries made the trip;
  • 98,000+ square metres of exhibition space used.

Industry Relevance

SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN enjoys renown as the largest trade fair for joining, cutting and coating. Not to mention one of the longest running ones as the first edition dates back to 1952. As editions roll out once every four years, the event is often referred to as the “Olympics of Welding Technology” and for good reason – visitors receive an in-depth overview of the entire value chain complete with the latest and best innovations.

Because SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN is held so rarely, each edition has its own specific profile and the exhibition halls overflow with new products from new brands. This creates an electric atmosphere towards purchasing. One of the main reasons to attend the trade fair is to research new products. In fact, one of every three visitors placed orders then and there.

The exhibition space is organised around the following thematic halls – Welding & Joining, Cutting, Surface Technology & Coating, Gas, Supplies & Filler Materials, Equipment & Safety, Quality Assurance, and Services & Digitalisation. The brand has been very successful over the years, which has prompted the creation of satellite events – the BEIJING ESSEN WELDING & CUTTING, the INDIA ESSEN WELDING & CUTTING and Weldex in Russia.

Who Are You Going to Meet?

SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN is all about business and facilitating sales. This is proven by the statistics from last edition. Out of all the trade visitors to come to Messe Essen, more than 80% are involved in the decision-making processes at their company, which means high chances for you to make great sales. In fact, a solid third of all visitors made purchases of machines, tools and filler materials right then and there. Another good thing is that the makeup of visitors is international in nature as over 60% of the visitors arrived from outside Germany.

The majority of trade visitors flew in from the surrounding countries in Europe (Spain, France, the UK, Italy, Austria, the Netherlands), but SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN has proven itself to be a global phenomenon. To the East, the trade fair is popular with professionals from India, Japan, Russia and China. To the West, you have interest from the USA. A look into the breakdown of visitors by industries shows that the trade fair is a central meeting place for branches of the metal working industry. The list includes metal products, manufacturing technology, metal working and occupational safety, welding equipment manufacturers, welding material suppliers, and pre- and post-weld treatment equipment providers.

Additional Value of Attending

The German Welding Society (DVS) heavily involves itself into the running of SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN and contributes in several ways. If you’re on the search for fresh talent to hire, then we definitely recommend sitting through the Young Welders' Competitions – three competitions for young welders from Germany, Europe and other nations. The competitions have been running since 2013 and an excellent way to highlight the varied skilled workers with promising careers! Young professionals can also look forward to the DVS Student Congress aimed at young scientists, which features lectures and practical advice.

DVS is also in charge of organising and hosting the DVS CONGRESS, which runs alongside the main exhibition portion of the trade fair. The congress exists to transfer knowledge and experts from all related fields discuss the latest topics, trends and challenges. Aside from the speeches and talks, visitors can take advantage of the experience from welding trainers. DVS were available to answer all sorts of professional questions on topics like modern media, modern training in welding technology, networking, career and research; and services for industry and skilled trades.
