The JEC or Johannesburg Expo Centre is considered by many to be South Africa's largest exhibition centre. It is also among the city's most well-known landmarks. The complex has 50 hectares of total space with over 150 000 m2 dedicated to event areas. The approximate capacity of the venue is 52220 people. Since its founding and opening in 2009, the JEC has become quite popular and sought after. For instance, the venue has been the hosting site of the Automechanika Johannesburg. Furthermore, it has presented the Hostex and AfriBuild fairs.
The JEC has over 150 000 m2 of event space. This total amount is distributed between approximately 20 indoor and outdoor meeting areas. These include a spacious 7500 m2 arena with a capacity of 20 000 people. It also includes 6 exhibition halls and several meeting rooms. It also has outdoor spaces such as 2 balconies, an escapade, and a lake area. All meeting areas in the 150 000 m2 of event space are flexible and include modern amenities. The venue itself also has modern services. These feature examples such as telecommunications, banking and over 20 000 parking spaces.
