About The Venue

Farnborough Airfield and Airport is the United Kingdom’s first airfield. It is also the location of the country’s first powered flight, which took place in 1908. The venue has a long history of both military and civil flight operations. Because of its extensive history, the Airfield is a popular location for the hosting of notable aviation events. For instance, it is the hosting site of the Farnborough Airshow since its creation in 1948.

Farnborough is both the UK’s first airfield and one of its premier airports. It began its existence at the beginning of the 20th century as His Majesty’s Balloon Factory. Initially the venue was owned by the British Ministry of Defence until 1991 when it no longer could meet the military requirements. This led to the location being redeveloped into a business aviation centre in 1994. The airfield has a total of 770 acres of space.
