The complex consists of 3 buildings – Moscone North, West, and South. The venue opened in 1981 and has been expanded three times over the years. The Convention centre has a total space of over 190 000 m2 with 163804 m2 being the total event space. Since its founding, the venue has been a popular hosting site. For example, the Game Developers Conference takes places at this location.
The Moscone Convention Centre was named after one of the city’s mayors. It is an event complex consisting of 3 buildings containing 124 meeting areas. These include 9 exhibition areas, 2 ballrooms, 7 lobbies/pre-function and 4 terraces. There are also around 102 meeting rooms. The venue was constructed in 1981 and consisted only of Moscone South. The complex was expanded in the years 1991, 2003 and 2018. During these expansions, the other two buildings were added. Also, the original building was expanded to include more meeting areas. All meeting areas of the venue are flexible.
