The 2024 edition of WEBUILD stands out as the driving trade fair event for renewable energy, becoming for a brief time the center of the energy transition. The demand and interest of visitors was enormous. Over nearly four decades, the fair has built a reputation for relevance and stability, acting as a showcase for both creative start-ups and established market leaders. The fair's highlight was the ""EnergyGenies"" award, which recognized the most innovative products in energy technology, energy saving, and energy efficiency. The fair reflects the current market trends, with a significant focus on photovoltaics, energy communities, energy management solutions, smart homes, and energy storage systems. Dr. Elisabeth Berger, Managing Director of the Association of Austrian Boiler and Heating Industry, noted the surging interest in photovoltaic panels, driven by the unpredictability of electricity prices as demand has doubled because electricity prices have become unpredictable. In a significant boost to the industry, Federal Minister Leonore Gewessler announced during the official opening of the fair that, starting April 10th, there would be new funding opportunities for electricity storage systems. This funding includes the elimination of VAT on invoices for new PV systems and storage systems, and extends to electricity storage systems that store electricity from existing PV systems up to a usable storage capacity of 50 kWh.
