Upcoming Trade Shows Stavanger, Norway for Renewable Energies

Stavanger has been a hub for traditional energy for decades, but for the past twenty years it’s been hard at work to develop sustainable technologies and achieve success in the renewable energies industry. Currently, the city’s renewable energy portfolio has broadened to include biomethane production, green hydrogen, battery technology, offshore wind, and energy storage, and as a result has set a major benchmark for the global energy transition. At the Forus Business Park, an innovative project focused on energy storage within geological formations is underway. This project aims to harness stored heat during winter months, which will offer a sustainable solution for energy storage. The City of Stavanger is the primary stakeholder. Stavanger also boasts one of Europe’s best high-speed digital infrastructures, which supports both businesses and private homes. Port Stavanger is also among the few ports globally equipped for LNG fueling ships. Access to renewable power enables the port to offer larger ships the option to connect to electricity. Those are some of the creative ways that the city is approaching the goal of zero net. Of course, that’s only one facet. Research is another major branch of the Stavanger’s pursuit of strengthening its renewable energies industry. The city is currently participating in Europe’s largest research and innovation programs, including New European Bauhaus, Airmour and AI4Cities. Completing the ecosystem are some of the most recognizable names working in the energy industry from welfare technology (Norwegian Smart Care Cluster) to smart city innovation (Nordic Edge Cluster). Stavanger hosts the annual Nordic Edge Expo, a leading Smart City event in the Nordics, showcasing the latest advancements in smart city technologies. Named the Norwegian Electric Vehicle Capital in 2019, nearly 40% of all new cars sold in the region are now electric.
