Royal Welsh Show 2025, Llanelwedd, UK
21 - 24 Jul 2025
Gardening occupies a revered place in the identity of the Welsh, and Llаnеlwеdd, in particular, has one of the biggest gardening industries in the country. You can thank the presence of the Royal Welsh Show, which celebrates gardeners, farmers and horticulturists alike. The fair shapes trends and influences the market. The 2024 edition promises to be the most important for the gardening industry in Llаnеlwеdd. The Royal Welsh Agricultural Society unveiled an ambitious plan for a revitalized Horticulture Section in 2024.
At the heart of this initiative lies the Society's commitment to promoting horticulture, a cornerstone of its charitable objectives. Set against the backdrop of the 2024 Royal Welsh Show, plans are underway to introduce a brand-new Horticultural Village, poised to celebrate the multifaceted tapestry of horticulture in Wales. So far the plan includes competitive showcasing, educational displays, and community and commercial growth. The village aims to spotlight the benefits of gardening, while also supporting a resilient supply chain of sustainable Welsh produce. Professor Wynne Jones, Chair of the RWAS Board, emphasized the pivotal role of horticulture in Wales and emphasized the Society’s duty to champion the sector. Gratitude was extended to Farming Connect and Lantra for hosting the launch event.
Aled Rhys Jones, RWAS Chief Executive, provided insights into the design concepts underpinning the Horticultural Village, which will highlight inclusivity and biodiversity. Alongside spaces for exhibitors, the village has dedicated an entire stage for talks and interactive displays. Central to its ethos will be areas for competitive showcasing, including floral art and vegetable produce, which are emblematic of the Royal Welsh Show's heritage. In recognition of the holistic benefits of horticulture on mental health and wellbeing, the Society intends to incorporate features such as communal seating and sensory gardens, so that visitors can enjoy a peaceful break from the many activities already taking place.
