The Natural Products Expo West is one of the defining fairs for the health industry in Anaheim; its every edition marks a significant milestone in the health and wellness industry. As one of the largest gatherings of its kind, the expo showcased the latest innovations in natural products, with more than 3,300 companies exhibiting, including 840 new brands making their debut. WholeFoods Magazine, celebrating its 40th anniversary, was among the notable attendees, reflecting on decades of industry evolution while looking ahead to future trends. A key trend at this year’s expo was the focus on metabolic health, a hot topic in the wake of the Ozempic craze that has swept across consumer markets. Companies like Enzymedica and COMET highlighted products and research aimed at offering natural alternatives to the popular weight-loss drug. Enzymedica’s “Fasting Today” product, for example, supports intermittent fasting and ketogenic diets, targeting weight management, energy levels, and healthy aging. With its combination of electrolytes, baobab fiber, and essential amino acids, the product reflects the growing consumer demand for comprehensive health solutions. COMET, on the other hand, emphasized the potential of microbiome-enhancing foods and supplements as cost-effective alternatives to pharmaceutical interventions like Ozempic. By focusing on products that improve insulin response and appetite regulation through natural means, COMET is tapping into the consumer desire for sustainable, health-conscious options.
