CIOE 2022 is set to take place from 7.09.2022 and 9.09.2022 with no delays. The event will be held at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Centre in Shenzhen, China. Expect strict COVID-19 health and safety measures.
A Brief Overview of CIOE
CIOE is currently the biggest exhibition servicing the optoelectronics' industry on a global scale — a massive marketplace for Chinese buyers to introduce themselves to the latest innovations in the field and an information platform to boot. Shortened from the Chinese International Optoelectronics Exposition, the event takes place in Shenzhen and offers an unrivalled opportunity to meet with buyers in China and establish a presence in the world’s second-largest economy.

Why Your Visit Is Worth It
CIOE translates to a huge return on investment for anyone who exhibits in China. The exhibition is the key driving force behind sales on an international level, so you’re in an excellent position to leverage new products and services to an audience with high purchasing power. Take a look:
- 1800+ international exhibitors;
- 68,000+ international trade visitors from 70 countries;
- 396 visitor groups to support;
- 3,825 optoelectronic brands, with 30% overseas brands;
- 110,000 square metres of exhibition space used.
It has been exactly 20 years since CIOE appeared on the scene in 1999 and fully revolutionized the optoelectronics' industry. The annual event has given Chinese and international manufacturers the opportunity to reach for new horizons and create an in-depth snapshot of the trends coming to the forefront. One of the most impressive achievements is that organizers manage to run six smaller sub-expos that are tightly specialized in one area — Optical Communications, Lasers, Infrared Applications, Precision Optics, Lens and Camera Modules, Data Centres, Optoelectronic Sensors and Photonics Innovations. Exhibitors benefit from increased visibility in front of an untapped audience. Play your cards right, and you return home with sales leads, direct orders and lucrative partnerships. CIOE is a highly effective cross-border procurement program.
Who Are You Going to Meet?
As we have already emphasized, CIOE has a massive industry appeal, and it’s time to explore what that translates to in numbers. The last edition scored 68,310 trade visitors, which is a jump of 19% in comparison to the edition before. This only underlines how the event is still picking up steam. Out of those visitors, some 6% were from foreign countries, compared to the 94% of native Chinese trade visitors. Even though this seems like a small percentage, CIOE has seen a 30% increase in international visitors. The countries that appear at the forefront include India, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Russia, the USA, and Singapore. Nearly 30% of all exhibitors were companies outside China — another statistic that is slowly improving.
CIOE often provides a new accent when hosting its annual editions. The 2020 edition, for example, had 3 new highlights. These were the Intelligent Driving Sector Sensor Display, the UV Technology Zone and the ONA. THE UV Technology showcased new products such as UV sensors. The Intelligent Driving Sector was the location that featured various smart driving solutions. ONA was a dedicated zone for leading companies to showcase new solutions and products for optical networks.
The 23rd edition of CIOE marked the resumption of face-to-face events. The rendition took place between September 16, 2021, and September 18, 2021, as an in-person exhibition. Strict COVID-19 prevention measures were implemented as part of the edition's concept. The exhibition area of this edition was 160,000 m2, and it received more than 3,000 exhibitors. The number of visitors was also high: 42,438 trading visitors attended on the first day. This shows the importance of face-to-face interactions and the significance of such events, especially during the pandemic.
