Palais des Festivals et des Congres (Palace of Festivals and Conferences, in English) has a storied history with a first iteration in 1949, when it began hosting the Cannes Film Festival – the festival that put the exhibition centre on the map. However, that temporary building has been demolished, and the current site was first opened in 1982 and then subsequently modernised between 2013 and 2015. As of right now, Palais des Festivals et des Congres has an exhibit hall space of 35,000 m² (380,000 sq. ft.) and a theatre capacity of 2300 seats. The show floor is divided into a variety of rooms, and there are also 18 auditorium rooms available for event organisers. The building operator is the company SEMEC.
Palais des Festivals et des Congres finds itself right at the waterfront, east of the port and overlooks the Riviera, which naturally makes it a desirable location for festivals. In addition to the Cannes Film Festival, the centre is also home to the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. A variety of congresses, concerts, and conferences takes the rest of the year up. The low-rise building features six floors and up to 970 parking spaces. Public parking is available. The last notable fact we want to mention is that the centre is a founding member of the local charity, the Cannes Community Fund, which gives back to residents in a variety of ways. This varies from cultural initiatives to social assistance of those most vulnerable.
