Jagd & Hund, Europe’s premier trade fair for the hunting sector, is the backbone of Dortmund’s animal industry as the city is predominantly known as a cultural destination. Founded in 1982, the event has grown into Europe’s largest hunting gathering. Jagd & Hund has become a shopping paradise for hunters and nature enthusiasts alike not in small part due to the opportunity to explore products, network and learn over the course of a full week. The thematic areas on display at Jagd & Hund encompass a wide range, providing a comprehensive experience for attendees. Exhibitors, both national and international, showcase products that appeal to a purchase-ready audience. Beyond hunting equipment, the fair offers a rich ancillary program, including presentations of various birds of prey, hunting dog showcases, championships and off-road vehicle races. To delight the food lovers, Jagd & Hund organizes the Wild Food Festival. One of the highlights is the European Championship of Deer Callers, where participants from across Europe compete in the art of deer calling - a hunting craft with a rich background and decades of tradition. The Horrido Area is another must-see as it features well-known personalities from the hunting scene – the list includes the Hunter Brothers, Dreispross, Huntrigroom and other hunting legends. The area hosts a diverse program, including daily Hunt on Demand film premieres at 4 pm. Additionally, visitors can practice archery skills in a dedicated area, sign up for hunting courses and participate in training days for district hunters. For young hunters, there is a dedicated space to meet peers and learn from experts. In 2023, visitors had the opportunity to attend expert lectures by Paul Parey, who shared his extensive knowledge and experience.
