The city’s appeal lies in its location by Lake Constance as well as its hosting of Interboot, which is one of the country’s biggest and most influential water sports exhibition. The event is on its 62nd edition and shows no signs of ever stopping even when stormy weather arises. The Sustainability Trail, introduced for the first time in 2023, garnered widespread acclaim as it shone a spotlight on booths featuring climate-friendly products and boats with distinctive green balloons. Dennis Pfister of Boote Pfister praised the exhibition for its turnout, particularly on weekdays, traditionally quieter days. He noted a significant influx of newcomers to the boat business, particularly in the burgeoning jet ski sector. Pfister expressed support for the event’s transition to a five-day format, citing potential benefits for exhibitors and customers alike, including a more concentrated experience and reduced disruption to day-to-day operations. Vinzenz Batt, Managing Director of the Swiss Boatbuilders Association, echoed Pfister's sentiments, emphasizing the challenges faced by small and medium-sized businesses in releasing staff for extended periods. He underscored the impact of the fair's duration on business operations, advocating for a shorter, more efficient format. The action-packed program at Interboot Friedrichshafen included demonstrations by European jet ski freestyle champion Niels Willems and impressive rescue displays by the German Life Saving Association (DLRG). Ideal weather conditions facilitated test rides with mini sailboats and motorboats, offering attendees firsthand experience with the latest marine technology.
