Hamburg’s boating industry is about to experience major boost in economic activity and visibility across Germany thanks to the introduction of HAMBURG YACHTFESTIVAL, which made its debut in September 2023 to a crowd of over 10,000 visitors that flocked to the Hamburg marina. Organisers made sure the inaugural event to be memorable with over 80 program items across two stages and on the water. As the sun set, the festivities continued well into the night, with party evenings that kept spirits and energy levels high. Catering to enthusiasts of all stripes, the yacht festival offered attractions suited for beginners as well as seasoned experts; sailors and motorboat fans; adults and children alike. Along the jetties of the Osthafen, visitors marveled at the latest models from companies like Sterk, Grand, Candela, Dehler, Tide, Elling and Drago. Many seized the opportunity to embark on exhilarating test drives along the Elbe, fully experiencing the thrill of life on the water. The yacht festival provided ample opportunities to local companies to expand their customer base. The German Sailing Association struck a chord with its trial sailing offer, providing people with the chance to experience the joys of sailing firsthand. From sailing touring cutters to sailing yachts, the opportunities were met with overwhelming demand. Spectators were treated to captivating demonstrations by the Well-Sailing sailing school, showcasing live rescue operations and expert insights into yacht trimming techniques by Oliver Ochse. Safety took center stage at the expert lectures hosted by the CKA Safety Day stage, drawing keen interest from both motorboat drivers and sailors alike. A highlight of the event was the panel discussion organized by the Hamburg Sailing Association in collaboration with the Schleswig-Holstein Sailing Association, examining the intricacies of water sports on the Elbe with representatives from politics and tourism.
