Upcoming Trade Shows in Norway for Shipping

Nor-Shipping 2027, Lillestrom, Norway
7 - 11 Jun 2027
Norway continues to solidify its role as a global leader in shipping. At the heart of Norway’s success is a robust and diversified maritime cluster that blends tradition with innovation. This network, encompassing shipowners, shipyards, equipment manufacturers, service providers, and research institutions, operates with a remarkable level of cooperation and competence. Industry players such as Kongsberg Maritime, Rolls-Royce Marine, and Ulstein Group are at the forefront, providing advanced technologies and systems that power some of the world’s most sophisticated vessels.
There are currently over 1,700 ocean-going ships under Norwegian control, which guarantees the nation leading positions in specialized maritime sectors, chief among which is the shipping industry. The full list includes offshore service and specialty vessels, chemical and LNG/LPG tankers, oil tankers, bulk carriers, cruise ships, and car carriers. Just to showcase how influential the country really is, we see that close to two thirds of all ships operate under foreign flags. Commercial success aside, Norway has several ambitious goals that directly addresses the acute climate concerns. The country has become a pioneer in developing and adopting green maritime technologies. LNG-fueled engines, battery-electric propulsion, hydrogen systems, and wind-assisted technologies are increasingly becoming standard features on Norwegian vessels. Notable examples include the electric ferry Ampere, the hybrid Future of the Fjords, and the autonomous zero-emission container ship Yara Birkeland.
Of course, nothing happens in a vacuum and Norway is among the most proactive countries in decarbonization and meeting its national climate goals. The government aims to make its fjords zero-emission zones by 2026. That means all vessels navigating these natural waterways must be fully electric or emission-free. This is an unprecedented move that is reshaping ship design and port infrastructure. On the international stage, Norway is lobbying the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to adopt a global ban on fossil fuels in shipping by 2050.
