Upcoming Trade Shows in Taiwan for IT & Technology

Taiwan’s IT & technology industry has never been in a better position. In 2018, Taiwan recorded $157 billion in exports; that’s a 3.48% increase from the previous year. This growth can be attributed to Taiwan’s strong industrial chain, technological expertise and integrated manufacturing capabilities, particularly in sensors and Internet of Things (IoT) terminals. As the world moves towards greater connectivity, Taiwan is well-positioned to leverage its advantages in the nascent IoT sector. The Taiwanese government’s “Asia Silicon Valley” policy aims to create a complete industry ecosystem by 2025, with the establishment of the Asia Silicon Valley Development Agency (ASVDA) playing a pivotal role. This agency collaborates with major tech players, including the Microsoft IoT Innovation Center and Qualcomm, which recently signed a memorandum of cooperation with Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs. These partnerships are essential in building a robust IoT value chain that integrates software and hardware. Taiwan’s IT & technology industry is also riding on accelerated growth of Internet connectivity. According to the 2017 Measuring the Information Society Report by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), internet usage has surpassed the 50% mark globally, a milestone that signifies the widespread adoption of ICT services. In developed nations, 80% of the population has access to internet services, driving demand for high-quality mobile applications. The year 2019 has been heralded as the year of 5G, with countries like the United States, Japan, South Korea, and many in Europe ramping up efforts to deploy 5G networks. The market for 5G is expected to grow exponentially, with projections suggesting an increase from US$700 million in 2020 to US$6.3 billion by 2025, translating to a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 55.4%. Taiwan's extensive experience in ICT development and its reputation for high-quality hardware manufacturing place it at the forefront of this technological evolution.
