Industry Relevance

The London Wine Fair (LWF), founded in 1981, is an annual event that draws thousands of visitors from around the world. Held at Olympia London, this international trade fair is the largest drinks show in the UK and is known for its exciting program just as much as its product lineup. With four decades of experience in assembling the trendiest wine and spirit product assortments, the London Wine Fair always outdoes itself. The upcoming edition is no different and organisers expect it to be one of the biggest and best yet.

Attracting international buyers from bars, restaurants, supermarkets and independent merchants, the London Wine Fair is the perfect opportunity for exhibitors to expand their market reach and showcase why they deserve to be front and centre. Trade visitors sample the newest flavours and tastes in still and sparkling wines, spirits, fortified drinks, beers and pearl wines. Exhibitors have their chance to shine in different thematic zones. Specialist importers are in the Esoterica zone. If you’re interested in wines that have never been imported before, then head to the Wines Unearthed zone. The best of home-grown drinks can be seen in the Drinks Britannia zone.

In addition to sampling and exploring the latest drinks products, the London Wine Fair offers plenty of opportunities for visitors to learn, network and close business deals. The Education zone and the Masterclasses bring engaging sessions and tastings on all matters concerning the wine connoisseur and entrepreneur. The Industry Briefings are an excellent opportunity to get serious and engage with top industry experts and curated panels forecasting the challenges and potential solutions for the year ahead.

Who Are You Going to Meet?

Thanks to embracing a hybrid model, LWF has built a significant digital presence, which results in contacts with potential buyers, who otherwise won’t be able to make it. This certainly broadens exhibitors’ chances to penetrate new markets. Being a UK event through and through, exhibitors interact with a mostly British audience (84% of the live audience).

You’re meeting with a diverse crowd professionally. The biggest segment is made of on-trade professionals, who work in restaurants, pubs, hotels, catering, bars and clubs. The next group is made of off-trade professionals that represent shops, supermarkets and independent merchants. Last but not least are the importers and distributors. When it comes to purchasing power, the vast majority of visitors are in positions of power in their companies - CEOs, owners, senior managers and marketing, PR and brand managers. Outside these high-value players, you’ll network with freelancers and consultants, sommeliers and educators.

Exhibitors represent numerous top wine-making regions with Australia, Italy, France, South Africa and Portugal being the most searched countries beside the UK in the digital platform. The exhibitor list features names such as Nyetimber, Bermar UK, CDG Wine Merchants, Waitrose, Hawksmoor, DrinkMocktails, ProChile, Club Oenologique, Domaine Bousquet, BibWine, The Tasting House and WineGB.

Additional Value of Attending

The London Wine Fair has evolved beyond being a purely physical event. Current editions offer attendees an innovative digital experience. Registration includes access to the digital event that fully immerses visitors into the spirit of LWF. Organisers have collaborated with some of the most cutting-edge platforms to offer visitors a unique and unparalleled networking experience that you carry in your pocket as an app. As a digital participant, you’re granted access to the most intuitive digital wine data platform in the industry - Bottlebooks.

Bottlebooks is the end all be all for wine enthusiasts, who want to know everything about wine –producer, importer, grape type, region and wine name. Plus, users can contact producers to request samples. With Bottlebooks, visitors can access detailed information about wines they have tasted at the fair, making it an excellent resource for wine connoisseurs and entrepreneurs alike.

The digital platform also allows visitors who missed the previous to watch all digital sessions on demand. The 2022 edition for instance has archived presentations and discussions on how to compete in a rapidly changing business landscape, the value chain of wine, WSET qualifications and their strengths, how bartenders are embracing the world of wine and how to maximise customer experience through wine-by-the-glass offers.

The London Wine Fair 2023 will introduce a new feature to its lineup: the Mindful Drinking Experience, which caters to the growing demand for low and no alcohol options. Attendees will have the chance to discover innovative drinks, meet producers and learn more about this exciting trend.
