Upcoming Trade Shows Tokyo, Japan for Beauty
Beautyworld Japan Tokyo 2025, Tokyo, Japan
28 - 30 Apr 2025
Tokyo, renowned for its advanced beauty landscape, stands at the forefront of cosmetic innovation, blending technology, and a discerning consumer base. Japanese consumers are known for their education about ingredients and a keen eye for beauty tech. At the recent Cosme Tokyo expo, Asian brands showcased the latest in science-driven cosmetic products, capturing the essence of Tokyo's beauty revolution.
Japanese salon brand, Lady Bio, unveiled its groundbreaking AI Mist - a versatile, water-based spray developed in collaboration with the University of Tokyo. This multi-purpose mist offers benefits for dry or acne-prone skin and even addresses common scalp concerns. With technology at the heart of its formulation, this product exemplifies Tokyo's cutting-edge beauty tech. One striking trend that took center stage at Cosme Tokyo was femtech and femcare, an emerging category with immense potential. Several indie and newcomer brands showcased products tailored to enhance female well-being. From nutritional supplements to CBD formulations, these offerings catered to a range of female-specific needs, including lubricants, intimate washes, and lotions.
Femtech gained recognition in Japan just a few years ago, with period product retailer Fermata pioneering the concept in 2019. The popularity of Fermata's female-centric products, including period wear and sex toys, led to offline sales starting in 2020. In Tokyo's upscale Roppongi district, the New Stand Tokyo retail space offered a curated range of products aimed at enhancing the female experience. In 2022, RX Japan introduced Femtech Tokyo, the first-ever fair dedicated to this burgeoning field.
A significant shift in Tokyo's beauty industry was marked by the Tokyo metropolitan government's decision to allow non-Japanese individuals to work in beauty salons. This groundbreaking move opens new avenues for foreign beauticians. Students holding visas who have demonstrated their skills while attending beauty schools in Japan can now work in the industry for up to five years to gain experience.
