London’s toy industry is driven by the successes of startups and tech pioneers, and supported by top-tier trade shows like the Toy Fair. The emblematic show hit a remarkable milestone in 2024 – 70 years! That’s 70 years of tracing toy trends and creating a global community that comes together every year to shape the face of childhood. The 70th-anniversary edition impressed with product launches and warmed attendees’ hearts with record-breaking donations. Exhibitors at the Toy Fair rallied together to contribute a mindboggling number of toys and games to KidsOut, the event’s official charity partner, through the beloved ‘Trolley Dash.’ In its seventh year as the show's charity partner, KidsOut orchestrated a remarkable feat with over 80 volunteers going from aisle to aisle to collect over 5,600 toys and games. This marks the highest amount ever received through the Trolley Dash initiative. As exhibitors poured their generosity into KidsOut’s mission, they embraced the opportunity to bring joy and support to children facing adversity. KidsOut, dedicated to aiding children who have experienced abuse and displacement, received products sorted by age appropriateness. These contributions will be transformed into toy boxes, carefully curated to bring delight to vulnerable children across the UK. In 2023, KidsOut distributed over 11,200 toy boxes, each containing 10 brand-new toys, touching the lives of thousands of displaced children and offering solace to those facing various challenges, whether it’s poverty, illness or disability. This effort amounted to a total of 227,976 toys dispatched to those in need. The impact of this year’s donations extends beyond toy boxes with contributions aiding refuge homes and community groups in providing essential items such as bicycles, dollhouses, outdoor play sets, and more. Through collective action and unwavering generosity, Toy Fair London 2024 has left an indelible mark on the lives of countless children, spreading joy and hope where it's needed most.
