Upcoming Trade Shows in Spain for Stone

Spain’s natural stone industry continues to be big business and just gave birth to a specialist trade fair dedicated exclusively to the stone sector in Spain and Portugal; Stonegal. It ran for three days in early June and made quite the splash upon its launch. The first edition was such a resounding success, it set the stage to becoming a landmark gathering for the industry by combining commercial exhibition space with a robust program of educational and strategic dialogue. The official launch of the fair took place at the Granite Cluster facilities in Porriño, Pontevedra, bringing together leading regional associations and businesses. Representatives from the slate and granite clusters of Galicia, marble associations of Almería, Murcia, and Alicante, and natural stone representatives from Castile and León attended the presentation. Local industrial firms such as Granilouro, Galnac, and Minera de Rocas were also present, demonstrating wide-ranging support from across the sector. Early demand has been strong with nearly 2,000 square meters of space already requested one year before the inaugural event. Organizers welcomed architects, designers, developers, public sector officials and industry distributors. Beyond the exhibition floor, Stonegal’s parallel congress fulfilled its purpose as a think tank for future-oriented topics. The program included keynote lectures, round tables, and hands-on workshops, curated by architect Mauro Lomba. The congress is designed not just for industry insiders, but also for public-sector stakeholders shaping Spain’s urban and residential landscapes. Spain’s natural stone industry had a successful 2023 with output reaching €1.7 billion. International demand for Spanish marble continues to rise not in small part to the enduring popularity of the White Macael variety from Almería. Known for its crisp white surface and subtle veining, White Macael continues to feature prominently in high-end projects around the globe from palaces to modern design interiors.
