Upcoming Trade Shows Abu Dhabi, UAE for Renewable Energies
ADIPEC 2025, Abu Dhabi, UAE
3 - 6 Nov 2025
The Emirate of Abu Dhabi is making significant strides in leveling up its renewable energies industry. Spearheaded by the Department of Energy, the emirate is pioneering advancements in renewable energy and diversifying its energy mix to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development. This initiative aligns with the emirate’s legislative framework and supports its economic growth while addressing environmental challenges.
A key component of Abu Dhabi's energy diversification strategy is the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant. Located in the Dhafra Region, approximately 250 kilometers west of Abu Dhabi city, the plant comprises four nuclear reactors, each with a capacity of 1,400 MW, totaling 5,600 MW. This facility, the first of its kind in the region, is set to play a pivotal role in reducing the emirate’s carbon footprint and meeting the growing energy demands. The DoE has been instrumental in integrating these nuclear plants into the electricity grid, focusing on technical, economic, and legal aspects. The department has developed a comprehensive electricity generation license framework that addresses the unique requirements of a nuclear facility.
In addition to nuclear power, Abu Dhabi is investing heavily in solar energy technologies, including photovoltaic (PV) and concentrated solar power (CSP) systems. The emirate is home to some of the largest solar projects in the world, such as Noor Abu Dhabi, which significantly contributes to the region's clean energy capacity. The DoE has set ambitious targets to increase the share of clean and renewable energy in Abu Dhabi’s electricity mix. By 2035, a substantial proportion of the emirate’s electricity is expected to come from renewable sources, marking a significant milestone in the UAE’s journey towards carbon neutrality by 2050.
To support this transition, the DoE has issued new regulations aimed at enhancing energy efficiency. These regulations are designed to facilitate the development of a balanced and sustainable energy industry.
