Upcoming Trade Shows in China for Lighting

The rising star of the lighting industry in China is the LED lighting market, which finds itself in a particularly strong period of growth. As China continues to urbanize and modernize, the demand for LED lighting solutions is expected to surge, making it a critical market to watch. China’s population of 1.411 billion in 2022, combined with a steady birth rate, is fostering growth in homeownership, small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs), and electric vehicles (EVs). The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology supported the creation of an additional 3,000 small giant enterprises in 2022, aiming for 1,000 single-product champion enterprises and 10,000 tiny giant businesses by 2025. This entrepreneurial expansion is set to drive significant demand for LED lighting as new commercial spaces and offices are established. In lower-tier cities and rural areas, more than 60% of residents were homeowners as of 2019, with many owning their properties outright. The average household size in urban areas was 39.8 square meters, while in rural areas it was 48.9 square meters. The rise in home purchases and the trend towards smaller household sizes, which stood at an average of 2.7 persons per household by 2021, are leading to increased LED lighting adoption. This is further supported by China’s high homeownership rate, which surpassed 90% by 2020. The automotive sector also asserts itself as a major contributor to China’s lighting industry. By September 2021, China had 297 million cars, with 8.83 million new motor vehicle registrations in the third quarter alone. The country leads the global market in electric vehicle (EV) sales, accounting for more than 85% of all EV sales in 2021. The EV fleet, the largest in the world with 7.8 million vehicles, relies heavily on advanced LED lighting for both exterior and interior applications. This trend is expected to continue as the push for greener transportation solutions grows.
