This turnout reaffirms Shanghai's position as a significant logistics hub that’s central to China’s success. Transport Logistic China 2024 featured a 50,000-square-metre exhibition space showcasing innovations and trends in logistics, mobility, IT, and supply chain management. The international community took keen interest in the event. Germany’s Federal Minister for Digital and Transport made an appearance. One of the event’s key highlights was the industry’s rapid shift toward nearshoring, digital and intelligent transformation, and low-carbon development. Companies like Sinotrans, CRCTC, COSCO Shipping, and JD Logistics presented groundbreaking innovations in logistics real estate, air freight, land transport, port logistics, and fresh produce logistics. The emphasis on technology-driven solutions was evident, with many firms demonstrating cutting-edge IT systems, automation tools, and special vehicles that promise to optimise efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. You can acutely feel the penetration of digital technologies in Shanghai’s logistics and transportation industry. Shanghai-based logistics giants, along with international counterparts, are increasingly focusing on integrating digital technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), to streamline operations. These advancements allow logistics providers to manage supply chains with greater precision and flexibility. As the global conversation around sustainability continues, the industry’s shift toward green logistics was featured. Companies showcased energy-efficient transportation modes and eco-friendly infrastructure designed to minimise carbon footprints, aligning with China’s broader goals of promoting sustainable development. Electric vehicles were positioned front and centre as a booming new logistics niche.
