Upcoming Trade Shows Frankfurt am Main, Germany for Optoelectronics

The optoelectronics industry is one of the leading sectors in Frankfurt and the city has the honour of hosting Optatec—an international trade fair for the latest advancements in optical technologies, components, and systems. The most recent edition placed a strong emphasis on sustainability, efficiency, and the integration of engineering sciences with natural sciences. One of the key themes of Optatec 2024 was the role of photonic components as enablers for new applications. According to Dr.-Ing. Erik Beckert, head of the Optomechanical Components and Systems department at the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Optics and Precision Engineering (IOF) in Jena, Germany, optical technologies serve as crucial bridges between research and industry, as they translate scientific advancements into practical, real-world applications. Engineers were treated to breakthroughs in fiber optics, coatings, and structures for satellite and communications technology, as well as developments in microscopy for materials research and electronics production. A major highlight at the fair was the European premiere of Schneider Optical Machines’ laser-assisted single-point diamond turning technology, developed in collaboration with Micro-LAM, Inc. This cutting-edge process represents a major advancement in precision glass processing, particularly for aspheres and free-form optics. Representatives of Frankfurt’s optoelectronics industry stood side by side with the best of the best, and took notes on groundbreaking solutions from companies like TRIOPTICS, which showcased its latest optical measurement solutions designed to support every step of the manufacturing process. Simon Zilian, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer at TRIOPTICS, highlighted how these technologies will shape the future of optical systems, ensuring greater precision and reliability in industrial applications. AMETEK Deutschland GmbH, BU ZYGO, also drew significant attention with its Qualifire technology, a precision measurement system tailored for the optics and semiconductor industries. Account Manager Torsten Glaschke emphasized its combination of innovative technology and an intuitive user interface, making complex measurements more accessible and accurate for demanding applications.
