Upcoming Trade Shows Frankfurt am Main, Germany for Energy
ACHEMA 2027, Frankfurt am Main, Germany
14 - 18 Jun 2027
Germany’s energy politics revolves around energy transition from fossil fuels and its major cities are turning into active hubs for innovation for sustainable energy solutions on a mission to stave off climate crisis. Frankfurt is one such hub with a thriving energy industry in possession of a true pioneering spirit. With its sights set on achieving 100% renewable energy by 2050, the city is forging partnerships with neighboring regions and engaging local stakeholders to turn this vision into reality.
Preliminary studies have revealed that Frankfurt cannot achieve its renewable energy goals in isolation. To meet its energy needs, the city must tap into resources from the metropolitan area and beyond. Fortunately, the metropolitan area boasts abundant renewable energy resources, with wind power and biomass potential projected to cover 184% of its power needs by 2050. Meanwhile, Frankfurt brings to the table its expertise in energy efficiency and extensive experience with passive building standards. Central to Frankfurt’s renewable energy strategy is the active involvement of local and regional stakeholders. Through a series of workshops and public consultations, the municipal team has engaged over 800 inhabitants, businesses, banks, and other economic stakeholders. These initiatives not only integrate their needs and ideas into the masterplan but also garner support for the project's broader regional implications.
A steering committee comprising 30 respected individuals from diverse backgrounds has been established to provide guidance and evaluate plan implementation. Additionally, a regional monitoring structure will track progress and publish energy data for the Frankfurt Rhine-Main metropolitan region. The Regionalverband FrankfurtRheinMain serves as Frankfurt’s primary partner for implementing renewable energy measures. This collaborative effort marks a significant shift as it transforms the city and region from mere energy users to renewable energy prosumers. By pooling resources and expertise, Frankfurt and its neighboring regions are paving the way for a sustainable energy future.
