Upcoming Trade Shows Frankfurt am Main, Germany for Building & Construction
Light + Building 2026, Frankfurt am Main, Germany
8 - 13 Mar 2026
In a groundbreaking initiative, the city of Frankfurt is spearheading a transformative approach to public building construction that aims to curtail operational costs by prioritizing energy efficiency and materials sustainability. With an eye on a 40-year life cycle, Frankfurt is leading the charge towards reduced energy consumption and increased materials efficiency in its public buildings, which enables its building and construction industry to enter a whole new era.
Frankfurt’s commitment to energy-efficient construction is made clear by the adoption of Passive House standards for both new and existing buildings. The city employs economic construction guidelines that are mandatory for every new public tender and cover both new constructions and renovations. Enacted in 2005, these guidelines meticulously consider the life cycle of buildings, aiming to minimize capital, operational and environmental follow-up costs from the planning stage to eventual demolition. The implementation of Passive House standards is vividly illustrated by the Ridelberg School, a public building in Frankfurt opened in 2004. Constructed over 14 months, the school adhered to these stringent standards, resulting in a structure that was 5% more expensive compared to one meeting the prevailing German energy efficiency regulations.
Frankfurt steps onto the national stage as the dedicated host to one of the most vital trade fairs for the construction sector in Germany - Lіght + Вuіldіng. This event has been shaping the future of construction and lighting for two decades. Since its inception in 2000, the fair has been a breeding ground for innovations in intelligent building manufacture and design, reflecting the strides made in these industries on a global scale. Held biennially, the fair serves as a platform for exhibitors to showcase the next generation of lighting, electrical engineering, building automation, and civil engineering software. Exhibitors and attendees alike engage with cutting-edge technologies that are poised to revolutionize these industries.
