Out of the many fashion events scheduled in Europe, Frankfurt Fashion Week might not be the most famous or the biggest, but it’s one of the more daring to experiment. In recent years, Frankfurt Fashion Week has set its sights on establishing a new standard for fashion events, one that caters to the evolving needs of the industry and its stakeholders. Spearheaded by the Premium Group and Messe Frankfurt, Frankfurt Fashion Week aims to complement existing trade shows and fashion weeks, while simultaneously leveraging the strengths of traditionally competing industry players. By offering a comprehensive online platform for networking and business forums, Frankfurt Fashion Week provides a dynamic hub for connecting with buyers, retailers and industry experts.
The inaugural event, titled Reform the Future: Frankfurt Fashion Week, showcased a diverse range of brands, from established high fashion labels to emerging designers and newcomers. Levi's, Veja, and MCM Worldwide were among the notable brands that showcased their digital collections, launches, and product drops amidst virtual events, panel discussions, and community spaces. The pandemic necessitated the event become hybrid, which allowed Frankfurt Fashion Week to continue its experiments with digital offerings. Ultimately, the hybrid model synchronized several of Europe's leading fashion trade shows such as Premium, Seek, and Neonyt. Altogether they were able to provide knowledge conferences, showcases and other events for a well-rounded experience that met the needs and matched the interests of everyone in attendance.
Sustainability is at the heart of Frankfurt Fashion Week’s ethos. The organizers are committed to aligning with The Conscious Fashion Campaign (CFC), a collaborative initiative between the United Nations Office for Partnerships (UNOP) and the fashion industry. The plan for 2023 was for Frankfurt Fashion Week to adhere to the CFC's Sustainable Development Goals mandatory for participating brands.
