Upcoming Trade Shows Stuttgart, Germany for Metal Working Industries

Among the high-profile trade fairs that boost the metalworking industry in Stuttgart, AMB is one with the highest turnouts and most innovations showcased to a wide international audience. The 2024 edition was a particularly high point with over 65,500 visitors from 78 countries. As one of Europe’s largest events in the field, AMB has been a vital platform for technology, networking, and business development since its inception in 1982, with this year’s focus strongly emphasising Industry 4.0 and the integration of artificial intelligence. One of the defining features of AMB 2024 was its emphasis on intelligent networks and collaborative robotics, AI and new interface technology. The event’s SmartFactory exhibit, organised by the umati (Universal Machine Technology Interface) initiative, offered a firsthand look at live machine-to-machine communication. In a unique demonstration, several companies collaborated to produce a multi-tool, showcasing how networked systems can streamline production. Alongside this, the “Expert Talks on AI in Manufacturing” drew substantial crowds, with attendees eager to learn about AI’s potential to revolutionise metalworking processes. Given the challenging labour market in Stuttgart’s metalworking industry, AI and automation present a viable long-term solution to the lack of new talent. Highlighting excellence in the field, the AMB Awards recognized groundbreaking innovations across six categories. In the software and digitalization category, goCAD was honoured for its advanced digital solutions, while Liquidtool Systems won in components and operating materials. Mahr took the award for measuring systems and quality assurance, and HAINBUCH’s advancements in precision tools secured its win. Sodick Deutschland impressed with its machine tools and production systems, and exoIQ’s automation technology earned it the award in the handling category. Adding to the dynamic environment of AMB was the popular “Pretzels 'n' Pitches,” a pitch competition for start-ups, co-organized by Allianz Industrie 4.0 Baden-Württemberg, and the Stuttgart Region Economic Development Corporation.
