The Dubai Science Park (DuBiotech) emerges as a dynamic science and business park, which plays a pivotal role in supporting the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This strategic initiative has attracted a multitude of global players, shaping Dubai as a hub for groundbreaking advancements in biotech.
DuBiotech has become a magnet for industry leaders seeking to contribute to the innovative landscape. Pharmax, a prominent pharmaceutical company, inaugurated its Dh125m ($34.03m) production facility at DuBiotech in December 2018. Global BioTherapeutics, a US-based company, established its regional headquarters at DuBiotech in April 2019. Norwegian chemical company Jotun Group joined DuBiotech's R&D hub in December 2019. Ideal Middle East, a UK-based digital health professional service consulting company, set up its office at DuBiotech in March 2020, utilizing the location as a base for operations in the Middle East and North Africa. This move aligns with the broader regional focus on digital transformation in the healthcare sector.
DuBiotech has witnessed a cascade of global entities establishing their presence within its bounds. The Swiss perfume and taste company Firmenich unveiled its new regional headquarters, equipped with a state-of-the-art Creation & Development Center, in March 2022. Himalaya Wellness, an Indian pharmaceutical company, followed suit, opening a cutting-edge Global Research Centre in December 2022. In January 2023, Innovate Life Sciences Lab, in collaboration with India-based technology company Wipro, launched a genomics testing lab at DuBiotech. This strategic partnership bolsters the park's commitment to fostering innovation and collaboration in the life sciences domain.
Most recently, DuBiotech scored perhaps its most important victory yet by managing to pull in the UK-based pharmaceutical giant, AstraZeneca. The company is currently in the planning stages of building sustainable offices that adhere to the platinum standards in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). This commitment aligns with the park's vision of being an environmentally conscious and progressive biotech hub.
