Upcoming Trade Shows in UAE for Medical Equipment
AEEDC Dubai 2025, Dubai, UAE
4 - 6 Feb 2025
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has become a leader in integrating telehealth into its healthcare system. The country has already achieved a lot in the medical equipment industry and is using its successes with advanced technology to improve patient care and healthcare delivery. Telehealth, the practice of providing medical consultations remotely through digital platforms, has gained momentum across the country. COVID-19 ushered telehealth into the forefront as it offers much safer, more accessible healthcare services. The UAE’s push to adopt and advance telehealth is transforming the medical equipment and healthcare industries by making medical consultations and treatments more convenient and efficient for patients.
One of the most prominent examples of telehealth’s success in the UAE is the Abu Dhabi Telemedicine Centre, a joint venture between Mubadala and Medgate, which offers 24/7 medical consultations in both Arabic and English. Patients can receive high-quality care without leaving their homes, which reduces the overall need for unnecessary hospital visits. The centre has made it easier for patients to connect with healthcare providers locally and internationally, allowing them to receive specialised care from experts abroad without travelling. For instance, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi uses telehealth to connect patients in the UAE with doctors at its main hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, for more complex consultations and follow-ups.
The COVID-19 pandemic played a significant role in accelerating the adoption of telehealth services across the country. At the height of the pandemic, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi reported that 50% of its consultations were conducted through its ‘Virtual Visits’ platform, highlighting how telehealth has become an essential tool for minimising exposure to the virus and protecting patients. Other healthcare providers within Mubadala’s network, including Healthpoint, Imperial College London Diabetes Centre, and Abu Dhabi Telemedicine Centre, rapidly deployed teleconsultations to curb infection rates and ensure continuous care for at-risk populations.
