Upcoming Trade Shows Milan, Italy for Decorations

The decorations industry occupies an honored position within Milan’s economy as one a year the city becomes the epicenter of the global design world during Salone del Mobile, also known as Milan Design Week. The event unfolds in April, drawing design brands and studios from around the globe to debut their products and furnishing collections. For seven days, Milan comes alive, with presentations and showcases that highlight the industry's best and brightest. The main event, held at the Rho Fiera exhibition center, is predominantly an industry-only affair. However, the city-wide festival known as Fuorisalone (literally, ""outside of design week"") is open to the public and provides ample reason to visit. Hundreds of installations and temporary exhibitions take over Milan’s galleries, showrooms, and retail spaces. Even abandoned factories, academic institutions, hidden courtyards, and private palazzi open their doors to the public. During Salone, the city’s atmosphere becomes electric. Milan's neighborhoods, referred to as design districts during Fuorisalone, are crucial for navigating the many galleries and design venues. This categorization helps visitors map out their itineraries and understand where individual events are located, and plan routes from one place to the next. It is best to start in the boho-chic Brera district, where design shows and installations are not confined to showrooms but extend to cloisters, private buildings and the prestigious Pinacoteca di Brera. Here, one can explore venues like Galleria Consadori as well as iconic shops such as Ginori 1735, renowned for its Italian-made porcelain. Just a short walk north brings visitors to Via Pietro Maroncelli, home to a collective of galleries and design-focused boutiques nestled behind old buildings and within classic Milanese courtyards. Discover eco-sustainable Brazilian furniture at Etel, innovative products at Il Vicolo, and 20th-century design at Galleria Paola Colombari. For access to artisans’ studios, 5Vie, Milan’s oldest district, is the place to go.
