Upcoming Trade Shows Milan, Italy for Optics

MIDO

MIDO 2026, Milan, Italy

31 Jan - 2 Feb 2026
If we’re to discuss the optics industry in Italy, we can’t overlook the role of Milan in promoting ‘made in Italy’ solutions and products, especially in the eyewear sector. The city hosts MIDO, the only trade show in the world that represents the entire supply chain for the optics and eyewear industry. Spanning seven pavilions and eight exhibition areas, MIDO covers every facet of the optics industry, from lenses and machinery to fashion frames and high-tech materials. The trade show is designed to facilitate connections between manufacturers, designers, retailers, and technology providers. This year, Pavilion 6 has been expanded to include the Academy, Start-Up, and MIDO Tech areas, highlighting groundbreaking advancements and emerging businesses. Additionally, a new green-inspired installation, reflecting the charm of Italy’s historic villages, has been introduced as a way to talk about the growing emphasis on sustainability in the sector. Meanwhile, Pavilions 2 and 4, dedicated to Design and Design Tech, have been restructured to accommodate avant-garde concepts next to cutting-edge innovations. MIDO’s Vision Stage serves as the event’s intellectual cornerstone, hosting a packed agenda of conferences, panels, and workshops. Topics range from global market trends and sustainability to technological breakthroughs and the enduring influence of Italian craftsmanship. Among the key sessions, journalist Alessandra Albarello will present insights on 2025 industry trends, while color designer Francesca Valan will explore “The New Dimensions of Color.” A highlight of this year’s event is “The Lens of Time,” an ANFAO initiative celebrating the interplay between innovation and tradition. The project will be showcased through an exclusive exhibit at the historic Palazzo Flangini in Venice. Another must-attend session is “Breaking Optical Barriers: Women Who Conquered the Climb to Success,” organized by the Optical Women’s Association (OWA) and promoted by MIDO. This discussion will spotlight the significant contributions of women in the optical industry.
