Messe Berlin

Messe Berlin is the chief exhibition centre in Berlin, which has a long history with its construction going back to the years 1936-1937. As of right now, the exhibition centre is referred to as Berlin ExpoCenter City and one of its biggest strengths is the central location next to Haus des Rundfunks (translated as the Broadcasting House). In terms of size, Berlin ExpoCenter City spreads over a total of 190,000 m² (1,700,000 sq ft) and that includes the Funkturm Berlin building. All exhibition halls are connected with a bridge to the Internationales Congress Centrum Berlin, which has closed its doors until further notice since 2014.

In Germany, exhibition centres function as companies in their own right, which is why Berlin ExpoCenter City has continued to expand throughout the city with the inclusion of the Berlin ExpoCenter Airport venue, which specializes for aviation events. Berlin ExpoCenter City is known to keep busy and there’s always an event going on. Some of the biggest trade shows and exhibitions to take place in Germany and Europe for that matter are held here – IFA Berlin, ITB Berlin, InnoTrans, FRUIT LOGISTICA and ILA are the biggest examples. Another curious fact for the exhibition centre is that there is a strong push towards environmental protection. This is through CO2 emission reduction, green energy usage, recycling, discounted public transport passes and contracting services that meet the latest environmental protection standards to the fullest extent.
