Messe Düsseldorf

As a city, Düsseldorf has a lengthy history as a trade fair organiser, which is why in 1947 the city saw the foundation of Messe Düsseldorf. The name is for both the exhibition grounds and the company in charge of event organisation. The grounds moved once in 1971 to a newly built complex in Stockum, where it stands to this day with a total hall capacity of 248,000 m2 (2,669,450 sq. ft). The building stands right next to the Düsseldorf Airport, which makes it easily accessible by planes and public transport in general. Messe Düsseldorf is not only a leader in Germany but also a leader worldwide as it’s a host to 23 world-leading events of great importance, amassing a total of over 1,500,000 visitors per year.

In terms of focus and specialization, Messe Düsseldorf predominantly focuses on medicine and health, fashion and lifestyle, retail and trade, machinery and equipment, and leisure. The trade fairs you should take notice of include A+A, MEDICA, ProWein, K MESSE, EuroShop, Tube, Wire, Interpack, Drupa, Aluminium, Glasstec, Valve World Expo and GIFA. There are 17 halls in use at the moment, which allow for the pairing of different events together. In 2017, Messe Düsseldorf was the home to 3461 different events, which were spread over a total of 303 event days altogether. It is also noteworthy to mention that Messe Düsseldorf has several subsidiaries in locations like Singapore, Russia, the USA, China and Japan, which build on a large international portfolio.
