Frankfurt Trade Fair (Messe Frankfurt in German) is a record holder in its own right as it’s often referred to as the largest trade fair and event organiser with its own exhibition grounds. We have the numbers to back up this statement as the exhibition grounds spread over 367,000 m² (for halls only) and additional 96,000 m² of free space for installations. Given that historically Frankfurt has been known for its series of trade fairs over the centuries (800 years by some account with the earliest mention of a trade fair being from 1240), it’s not a surprise to discover that Messe Frankfurt is also among the oldest trade fairs in the history of the world.
Another aspect worth mentioning is the architecture. Messe Frankfurt captivates visitors with its ultra-modern look thanks to architects Helmut Jahn, Oswald M. Ungers and Nicolas Grimsha, who embraced bold geometry to create unforgettable atmosphere in every single building. Since we’ve already touched upon the popularity of the city as a trading centre and the record-breaking size of Messe Frankfurt, it’s safe to assume the exhibition halls and congress centres are never empty. The event calendar features some of the biggest and most influential events in Europe and the world such as CPhI Worldwide, Ambiente Germany, Prolight + Sound, Musikmesse, Automechanika, ISH , Techtextil Frankfurt, ACHEMA, IFFA, Frankfurt Book Fair, Heimtextil, Paperworld and Light + Building. It will not come as a surprise then to hear that the company generates €661 million on average every year as a result.
