Upcoming Trade Shows in Turkey for Food & Drink
WorldFood Istanbul 2025, Istanbul, Turkey
2 - 5 Sep 2025
Turkey’s food and drinks manufacturing sector is one of the main drivers of the Turkish economy. The sector boasts over 53,000 businesses and a robust annual turnover of USD 360 billion. As the overall consumer demand for processed food products inclines, the industry is expected to enjoy further growth over the next decade. One of the key highlights of Turkey’s food industry is its diverse sub-sectors, each making significant contributions to both domestic consumption and global exports. Flour-based products, confectionery and chocolate, milk and dairy products, meat and sausage products, and processed fruits and vegetables are among the leading segments.
Turkey’s dominance in the global export market is particularly noteworthy. The country ranks first in the world for flour and bread exports, second for pasta exports, and seventh for biscuit exports. Flour-based products alone account for 22% of the entire agri-food industry with over 41.1 million tons produced annually, a large portion of which is exported. In the confectionery and chocolate sector, Turkey’s annual exports amount to USD 2.7 billion. The country holds a significant market share with over 271,000 tons of chocolate produced annually. In fact, Turkey is one of the countries with the highest consumption of chocolate with per capita consumption of 3.1 kg.
The meat and sausage products industry also flourishes with an annual market turnover exceeding USD 2 billion. Poultry production stands at 2.2 million tons annually, while beef production reaches 1.2 million tons. These high volumes of production demonstrate Turkey's capacity to meet domestic and international demand. Additionally, the dairy industry remains a high earner for the country as it ranks seventh in Europe for milk production and among the world's top ten producers. With a diverse range of dairy products, including the widely consumed plain yogurt, Turkey continues to play a significant role in meeting global demand.
