Upcoming Trade Shows in UK for Entertainment & Media

The United Kingdom’s entertainment and media (E&M) sector continues to demonstrate resilience and growth after a contentious period at the height of the pandemic. As things are now, it’s poised to maintain its dominant position as the leading market in Europe over the next four years. Despite macroeconomic challenges, including sluggish consumer spending, the UK entertainment and media industry remains robust across various channels. With UK entertainment and media revenue projected to reach £85 billion in 2023 and forecasted growth at a compound annual rate of 4% through 2027, the industry faces fluctuations in growth rates due to variable economic conditions. However, companies are adapting by recalibrating strategies, focusing inward and seeking avenues for renewed growth amidst ongoing disruption. While digital and mobile technology have long been driving forces in the entertainment and media landscape, there’s a new revolution that’s brewing. We’re talking, of course, about Generative AI. Mary Shelton Rose, partner and UK Technology, Media and Telecoms Leader at PwC, emphasizes the potential of AI to enhance productivity and creativity. However, its role within entertainment has already proven itself to be controversial, and no one can fully predict the economic effect on the sector as of right now. Internet access emerges as a significant revenue driver with forecasted revenue expected to grow from £16.7 billion in 2023 to £20 billion by 2027. Mobile internet access will surpass fixed broadband, becoming the primary contributor to total internet access revenue by 2023, accounting for 55% of total revenue by 2027. The growth of data services is also a firm given. The sector has nowhere else to go but up with annual data consumption projected to more than double by 2027. Streaming services, social video platforms and broadcast video on-demand services will drive this surge, comprising 36% of total data consumption.
