The international eyewear industry gathered in Munich recently to attend opti 2024 trade fair, a pivotal event that has become the annual kick-off for the eyewear industry’s optical year. This year's event introduced several new hubs, including the opti SUSTAINABILITY HUB, opti MYOPIA HUB, and opti TREND HUB within the opti INNOVATION AREA. A major highlight of the event was the presentation of the opti SUSTAINABILITY AWARD, which was awarded to Andreas Schmidt from Augenblick Brillen Kontaktlinsen. The company has made significant strides in reducing its ecological footprint by implementing sustainable practices such as using LEDs and motion detectors and replacing direct water connections with a closed system. Another notable moment was the awarding of the third opti BOX AWARD to the Danish label SKANS – EYEWEAR WITH IMPACT. SKANS embodies the principles of sustainability and innovation.
